VCON 5
Dates: May 21st-23rd, 1976 VCON 5 marked the move of the con from hotels to the UBC university residence (to which the con would continue to return over the years). There were panels on non-human intelligence, sex and sexism in SF, SF collectibles, and teaching SF, as well as a talk formidably titled: "The Disarray of Particle Physics and the Error of Reductionism." Vancouver's fifth con marked the tentative start of what would later become a VCON tradition: the theme con. It featured a salute to Hugo Gernsback, editor of Amazing, and a program book that was modelled after the famous magazine. VCON 5 also marked a move to the month of May.
