Humour and satire in science fiction was the theme of VCON 17, and the costumes and craziness at the con certainly reflected this! Special events included a "Wheel of Science" game show, a screening of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show, a performance by the Almost Midnight theatre troupe of Radcliffe Peon, Space Wrestler, a "dead scientists" panel, a "Sunday punday" contest, and a talk on the sex life of Godzilla by R. Graeme Cameron and Stan Hyde. There were also more serious panels on the history of art in SF and fantasy, costuming, psionics in SF, entertainment in zero G, and a tribute to Robert Heinlein by Spider Robinson.
